BACKGROUND and ROADMAP

Background

Dolphin was initially conceived as a support tool for work conducted at IRISA, Inria Rennes/CNRS, during the H-Reality European project. 

Prior to the design of Dolphin, the options available for designing stimuli were either to use simplified tools such as Ultraleap’s Sensation Editor (allowing rapid prototyping of a limited range of sensations, without in-depth control of the rendering process and offering no interoperability with external software) or coding sensations from scratch in C++ (allowing full customization of sensations, integration into external software, but time-consuming and requiring a good mastery of stimulus design workflows).
